Everywhere I go Oh!
People want to know oh.
Who we are R
Where we come from.....
popular "Jodie" as sung by US Military personnel
Everywhere I go, people seem to blame minorities on everything - from AIDS to mis-education to loss of jobs and scholarships to the economy going bad to urban blight to gas prices......okay, maybe we are responsible for gas prices because economics teaches the student that when there is more demand than product, then prices escalate. This makes sense because of ALL of the minorities who are out demanding gas.
If you didn't recognize the absurdity in the above example let me explain: Minority means less than. How can a minority take all of anything? This came to light when someone argued with my wife about blacks taking all the scholarships away from the mnjority culture or I think more correctly, "minorities taking away scholarships from more deserving whites". Hmmmm.
February is black history month. I'm black with plenty of history fo' ya and I'm her to tell you that minorities are less than. Since 1607 when the first black slaves landed on the shores of Jamestown, Virginia, less numbers has always meant less numbers. Blacks cannot be taking away any scholarships, food stamps or anything else from the majority culture because why? The MAJORITY out numbers us 7 to 1!!!!!
If there were 25 scholarships available, and 100 students that represented the US population, blacks would have 12 people available for scholarships, hispanics would have 13 and whites would have 71 (asians, native americans and others like Indians and Pakistanis would represent the other 4 people). What some people would have us to believe is that the powers that be would give all 25 scholarships to the minorities(fuzzy math since there are more minorities-29-than scholarships- 25 - right?). We know the hispanics don't count in this scenario. Of course we also know the 1 or 2 asians would get 1 or 2 because they are smart like that, right?
From a statistical perspective, blacks would get 3 of the scholarships, hispanics 4, asians 2 (cause they're smart like that!) and the rest - 14- would go to whites! I guess it's unfair that the majority populous didn't get all of the scholarships!!!
The truth of the matter is that blacks graduate at a less rate than the majority population (high school, community college, 4 year institution, grauduate school, it doesn't matter...we are a culture of underachievers and incompleters). Also, THERE ARE LESS BLACKS IN THE US TO GATHER STUDENTS FROM!!!!! We therefore cannot be taking all of the available scholarships. We have proven to ourselves that we do not want to achieve or go to school or learn, or get out of the ghetto or aspire to greatness.
I tell all of my children everyday that they need to aspire towards greatness and not mediocracy. Someone forgot to tell our culture, as a whole because believe me, we are not doing it. Every educational and vocational (that means job) category statistic that you can name will show how underachieving we are as a culture and yet, we still have those of the majority who will say that WE are taking THEIR jobs, scholarships, opportunities, women, etc...
There are NOT ENOUGH of us to do this. Apparently, the majority culture, among other things, cannot count.
Another fact ignored.
Another tree falling that cannot be heard.
