I like to concentrate on good things.
Theres so much bad in the world but conversely, there's a lot of good and to concentrate on that is a goal of mine. I once heard that a reporter asked a then Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court (Earl Warren I think) which part of the newspaper he read first and he replied, "the sports section". When further asked why that particular section he was reported to say , "I would like to read about the accomplishments of men first thing in the morning than to dwell on the failings of men". Some people I know would argue whether sports scores and standings are truly "accomplishments" but if you think about the concept for just a moment, I believe you would get his point.
I love sports, litterally. I hope my children become sports stars and if they do not, then movie stars which I love second to sports stars. At the end of the day, I want my children, our children, to be happy at what they decide they want to persue but a sports star and next a movie star are fun to have in the family. Think about it, you get to have good seats at the games they play in or the movies or plays they star in. OF course, you have to like going to games or movies or plays but even if you do not, you can still thumb your nose at people you know and don't know because you're the next best thing to being someone famous: the parent of someone famous!!! We'll, maybe you're actually the third best thing to someone famous because I could imagine that being the spouse or child of someone famous like a sports star or movie star is better than being the parent.
When you actually think about it, no one REALLY cares about the parent of someone famous unless they are in court suing their famous child or are the defendant in a civil case brought by the famous star. If that happened, then no one would still actually CARE about the parent as much as they might have hatred because this person is daring to go against this famous person who could not possibly be wrong.
I want to have two more children - don't worry, she knows, but no more! It could be that our current children might turn out to be sports stars or movie stars - or both - wow! But just in case that doesn't happen, the two more children would be our back-up plan - mama always said you must have one of those. Then, we could start all over and either raise two sports stars or movie stars from the beginning or we would become like one of those famous parents who raised sports stars or movie stars from a very early age and eventually go to court to sue our children for not recognizing that we were the ones that got them to where they are today. In turn, they would counter-sue us for being bad parent-managers who pilfered all of their money on houses and cars and lake-front property (kids are so ungrateful, you know?)
I like to concentrate on good things, don't you?
