When my son was 3 or 4, he would play with friends at the local playground and later, when recalling specific things he did with them, we would have the following conversation: "So, what did you do today?" "I played with so-and-so" "Well, who is he?" " He's so-and-so, you know, the brown boy!".
Thinking about this time after time, I came to the conclusion, as have many before me, that children are truely innocent. They describe the situation in their world and mind as it appears to them. To my son, this particular friend was brown in color, that's it, and this was his way of effectively describing him to me.
As adults, we become more careful and guarded with words because we are trying not to offend. In otherwords, we are trying to be PC. [I always thought PC was something that you type on, you know, like this thing I'm using to make this blog - Because it's definately not a MAC! ]
The content of a person's character is what is important, not necessarily what word's they use to describe someone or something.
Over a century ago, duels use to be common among men of "Character" because of offensive words that were said to one another. I for one am glad we are no longer in the 18th and 19th centuries, aren't you?
Freedom is a two way street and as such, one will definately see if not accept that there are others on the same street that do not walk, drive or park like you do.
